Think you could put on a better show than some of the festivals that are currently available? Then give it a go. That’s exactly what these guys did, and look what they’re up to now…

We’ve all been there.

Sitting, helpless as yet another of our favourite summer music festivals succumbs to a case of Radio-1-itus and wishing there was something that could be done about the corporate takeover of our beloved summertime music festivals.

Secretly, we all believe that, given the right resources, we could do a better job.

We could book a more deserving line up, offer more reasonable ticket prices and – dare we say it – foster an atmosphere in which arson and anarchy were not accepted normality.

But then the bus comes, we snap out of our short-lived fantasy and pay our £3 commuting fee before slumping into the corner of yet another journey to an uninspiring workplace.

Could the fantasy ever continue?

But what if we actually had the balls to continue the aforementioned fantasy?

What if, instead of chalking such a daydream up to the realms of impossibility, we actually broke it down, got together with a few mates, and went ahead and did something about it?

That’s exactly what the guys who founded 2000trees – a new music festival that’s just won its fourth national award – went ahead and did. And they haven’t looked back since.

Supporter of Emerging Talent 2014

“We’ve had the likes of George Ezra, Frank Turner, Twin Atlantic and Wolf Alice at 2000trees long before they achieved national and international recognition and we pride ourselves on this fact” said organiser James Scarlett following the festival’s most recent accolade – Supporter of Emerging Talent at the Association of Independent Festivals awards, “Every award helps to make the event better for our fans as we can bring in the best live acts around.”

It’s hard to believe that a little over 7 years ago, James was working a regular full time job just like you and me.

Disillusioned by extortionate ticket prices and over-priced food and drink, he got together with a band of festival veterans and took matters into his own hands.

And 2000trees was born

Instead of James and the gang continually bemoaning such frustrations, they went ahead and set up their own festival. And the festival has gone from strength to strength since.

It’s a truly inspired tale (and if you’re that jealous you know what to do) – but 2000trees now needs our help.

Vote and win tickets to a summer of music festivals

You see, Trees is also in the running for one or two awards at the UK Festival Awards, including Grass Roots Festival, Best Small Festival and Best Family Festival.

And it’s up against some big hitters. So if you think what the guys have done deserves every accolade that comes their way, you can get on and vote.

Those that do have a chance to win free tickets to all winning festivals and to support a festival that encourages the next generation of talent to grow. Be warned, though, voting closes tonight.

So what are you waiting for? Get on and vote now! We assure you, it’s a hell of a lot easier than starting your own festival.
